Tips to Help Kids Keep Mask on At School • Parent Influence

With more and more kids returning to in-person school this year, many areas are requiring masks on kids of all ages. It seems no matter what, if you have the shot or not, you must get a mask on your kid to attend school.

While some kids are fine with this masking up situation, as it has been around for over a year now, some kids have issues with it. Today we’re sharing some tips to help you get your kids to keep their masks on while at school.

We know that masks are required at school, but make sure your child knows why they are doing it.

By telling the kids about germs and how they spread, you can teach them why masks are necessary in certain areas of the school. Kids will be more interested in wearing their mask if they know what it is actually protecting them from.

When masks are available everywhere, you don’t have to worry about your kids not having one.

Kids are known for doing things they aren’t supposed to, even if it means taking off their mask when no one’s looking. Make sure your child knows that masks are provided at school so that they need not worry about keeping one.

Kids like to look cool and fit in with their friends, don’t make it hard for them by telling them they need a mask at school.

If you feel the mask is necessary, try not to overdo it. Kids will be kids and they want to fit in just as much as adults do. By making it a huge deal, you will only discourage them from wearing it.

Kids need to eat their lunch and drink enough water as well as take breaks outside during the day.

Studies show that kids can’t concentrate on class for more than an hour if they don’t have their mask off at least once during this time. Make sure your child is getting a couple breaks as well as lunch and water throughout the day to stay hydrated and focused.

When kids take their masks off at school, make sure they are washing their hands first.

Kids need to know that even though they aren’t touching other people, germs can still be spread through the air or by touching a surface and then touching their face. By washing their hands before taking off their mask, your child can protect themselves from germs and keep concentration on school.

Be sure that kids are allowed to wear a mask at all times at school.

If the principal says masks aren’t necessary during certain activities such as PE or art class, make sure you let the school know that masks should be allowed in all circumstances.

Kids can’t learn when they’re tired and their bodies won’t perform to the best of their abilities if they don’t get enough sleep.

Make sure your child is getting a good night’s rest before going back to (or beginning) school this year. This will ensure that they are able to concentrate on class without having to worry about their mask.

Kids will have a hard time focusing at school if they aren’t feeling well.

Make sure you know what your kids are feeling each morning before sending them off to school. If they seem sick, send them to school with a mask already on so that they don’t get the rest of the class sick.

Having to wear masks at school doesn’t have to be fun for kids, but it is necessary in order for them to get an education without worrying about catching diseases or infecting their classmates. By keeping these tips in mind, you can ensure that your child is getting through school while wearing their mask.
